Summer Club Underway - Next Level Website Info

 The summer club begins Tuesday June 16 and will run throughout June and July.  Club will be held Tuesdays through Thursdays 11-12:30.  Please check out the Next level club website  (click on the next level link) for all the details.  The full list of summer events, times and info are all listed on that site.  This  includes VHSL dead periods which the club and school will be closed for.  We will also send out email/texts during the summer to give updates.  Please contact a coach if you  need  to be added to our list.

Wildcat Open - Big Success

 A big thanks goes out to all the parents, wrestlers, and alumni who came out to help at the Wildcat open May 30th.  The tournament was our biggest to date and had wrestlers from 5 different states represented.  It was a big event for the School and a great fundraiser for the team.  We couldn't have made it a success without the tireless work of all the volunteers.  Thank you!

2014/15 Banquet - thank you 

The 2014/15 Banquet was held this past Wednesday at the Shenandoah Valley golf club.  Thank you for the fantastic turnout this year - it was one of our biggest ever!  Thank you to all the parents and families who worked countless hours to make the season one of the best. Congrats to all the award winners and letter men. It was a great season for the cats - excited to start work on next years!!



Zach Beckner crowned 2015 VA State Champion 

The Congratulations to Zach Beckner who became Warren County's second state champion in school history!  Zach majored Ashton Brown of Brookeville in the finals to take the 2015 title!!  Due to inclement weather the tournament format was changed and the other wildcats were not able to wrestle back but congratulations to Jacob Schneider, John Coffron, Brett Binnix, and Connor McMackin on their great run to the state tournament.  Great season to all of the wildcats. 



Varsity Wildcats place 7 take 5 to states from the 3A East Region Tournament 

The Varsity team took their entire lineup to the 3A East region tournament this past Weekend.  The Cats crowned 1 champion (Zach Beckner), placed 7 and will take 5 to the VA state tournament.  The cats also secured a top 5 finish placing 4th as a team with 13 different wrestlers scoring points for the team. Congratulations to their entire team on a great group effort and good luck to all the wrestlers at states.  Place winners posted on the schedule link and state info posted on the varsity link.

Banquet Information

The 2014/15 Warren County Wrestling banquet will be held March 4th at Shanandoah Valley Country club. It is for middle school through high school.  Flyers have been sent out and one is posted on the coach's corner link.  RSVP must be turned in by 2/24/15.  See a coach for questions or more info!



Varsity wins 2015 Conference 28 tournament!

The Varsity wrestling team won the conference 28 Tournament!  The cats cruised to big lead and never looked back as they beat skyline, john champe, loudoun valley, rock ridge, william monroe, and central for the title.  The wildcats placed all 14 wrestlers and qualified 13 for regions.  Congrats to the Individual champs Brett Binnix, Zach Beckner, and John Coffron.  Full placewinners are listed on the roster link.  Regional information will be posted on monday on the varsity link.  We will be posting more pics all week long.  Congrats to the entire team and Good luck at regions!

JV becomes Super Regional Champs for 2nd year in a row!

 The JV team has won the JV Super Regional Tournament for the second year in a row.   The cats came out with a record 5 champs and took the team title by 22.5 points over woodgrove.  All members of the JV team scored points for the teams, which is an awesome accomplishment. Full results are posted on the roster link.  Congratulations to the entire JV team on their title and great season!



Varsity crowns 2 champs - 6 finalist in District Tournament

The Varsity hosted the 2015 District Tournament.  The cats places 12 wrestlers and put 6 in the finals.  Congrat to Zach Beckner and Jacobs Schneider who both won their 2nd District titles and Brett Binnix, Tristan Ward, Jackie Beglane, and Tyler Shanholtz who were all runners up.  Full list of place-winners in on the roster link.  Great event for the entire team!

Middle School season concluded - lots of mat time still available! See details below

** The middle school season is concluded.  It was one of the best seasons in years!!  All 8th graders and invited to join the JV team to finish out the season and all 6th - 8th graders are invited to join the mat cats to finish their season.  Lots of wrestling mat time still available for the kids interested!  Contact a coach for more information.  

 

Varsity crowns 2 champs - 5 finalist at Handley Invitational

The Varsity travel to Handley and had a incredible day putting 5 wrestlers in the finals and coming out with 2 champs.  Zach Beckner and Connor McMackin were crowned individual champs and Brett Binnix, Tyler Shanholtz, and Jacob Schneider were all runner ups.  Full results with all place winners posted on the roster link.  Zach Beckner was also crowned Outstanding wrestler of the event (his 2nd of the year!)  The team was again out starters - a common theme this year due to flu and injury but rallied in the last 2 rounds to rise from 8th place all the way to 4th missing out only by a few points from 3rd.  It was another great team effort from bottom to top.  Great Job Wildcats!


Middle School wins 2015 NVJL Championships

The Middle School was crowned 2015 Northern Virginia Junior League Champions!  The cats went undefeated in the NVJL duals all season and came out 1st place in this year's tournament.  The cats crowned 9 champs and 17 total place winners to win the event.  Congrats to the entire team on a fantastic season.  Full place winners are posted on the roster link.  Congratulations to the entire team on a great event!


Middle School finishes season with strong Runner Up finish at Blackhawk tournament

The Middle School finished their 2014/15 season with a 2nd place team finish at the Culpepper Blackhawk Invitational.  The team 3 champs and 10 total place winners in the day long tournament.  It was a great event to end the season and a fantastic run.  The Cats finish with a 16-2 record, 2015 NVJL Champs, and Blackhawk Invitational Runner Ups and many more champs and place winners from WC and Aylor Tournaments.   It has been one of the best season in years!  Congrats to the entire team, coaches, and families on a great season.  There is are lots of wrestling opportunities left - All 8th graders and invited to join the JV team to finish out the season and all 6th - 8th graders are invited to join the mat cats to finish their season.  Lots of wrestling mat time still available for the kids interested!  Contact a coach for more information.   


Middle School wins 1st ever WC Middle School Duals!

The Middle School hosted its firs ever home duals and had some of the best competition around.  The cats won the event going 5-0 defeating Culpepper, Charlestown, Christiansburg, King George , and New Kent to go undefeated and take the title.  Congrats cat on a great event and good luck on the NVJLs this Wednesday! 



Varsity goes 3-0 at Conference 28 duals. 

The Varsity Team went to Rock Ridge for this year's conference Duals.  The cats did not wrestle Skyline or William Monroe since we have matches with them in a few weeks.  The Cats knocked off Loudoun Valley, John Champe, and finally Rock Ridge to go 3-0 on the day.  Full scores on the schedule link. Varsity is back in action at the 3rd District tri at Clarke on Wednesday.  Go Cats!



JV Racks up wins at Sherando 

The JV team got back on the mat this past Friday after  a snowed out home event.  The cats didnt waste any time and racked up over 30 individual victories.  Great job cats!  The JV is back on the mat this Wednesday at James Wood. 


WC Invitational big success, Wildcats Crown two champs and 13 place winners!

The WC Invitational was a success from start to finish for the wildcats coming out with 15 total place winners!  The team finished a strong 4th place in the strong field of teams and crowned 2 champs Zach Beckner and Tyler Shanholtz.  Full list of place winners are listed on the roster link.  Zach Beckner was also voted as most outstanding wrestler of the event!  Great job wildcats - what an event!


Mat Cats season now Underway
The Mat cats season is now underway with events each weekend.  Make sure you check out their website for all the details and info about the great youth wrestling!


Wildcats place 4 at Kiwanis Tournament in PA
The Varsity placed four wrestlers at the tough Kiwanis tournament in PA.  The cats down two starters and battling the flu rallied to take 13th place in the 26 team event..  Zach Beckner became 2014 runner up, Tyler Shanholtz 4th place, Nathan Johnson 5th place, and Kevin Cruz 7th place.  Congrats to all the place winners and all the wildcats on  battling in a tough event. 


Cats bring home lions share of place winners at Turner Ashby Tournament  - 
The Varsity traveled for its first two day tournament of the year and came out with 1 champion, 4 runners up and 12 total place-winners to take 3rd in the tough field of teams. Zach Beckner became the cats first ever TA Tournament Champ but the cats put a solid 5 in the finals and came out with 4 runner ups - Jacob Schneider, Tyler Shanholtz, Tristan Ward, and Brett Binnix.  Full list of place-winners listed on the roster page.  Next up for the cats a trip to Pennsylvania for the annual Kiwanis Invitational. 


Varsity gets first District Wins at Home
The Wildcats held a mid week tri this past Wednesday hosting the first District matches of the season.  The Cats defeated Central 80-0 in the opening round and Mananas Park 53-21 in the second round to go undefeated on the night.  It was a great home event for the cats as the head to the tough Turner Ashby Tournament this weekend. Go Cats!


Middle School gets two more team wins!
The middle school got two more team wins this week with a undefeated showing at the Daniel Morgan tri. The cats defeated Charlestown,WV 75-42 and then Daniel Morgan 65-41 to go 2-0 on the night.  The Cats improved to 8-1 on the season - great job Cats!


Varsity wins 2nd trophy of the year - takes 2nd at Sherando Duals 
The Varsity team had a great weekend at the Sherando Duals going 5-2 over the two day event to take the 2nd place Runner up trophy.  The cats rallied together as a team with starters out for the second week in a row and had some younger cats step up in big matches.  On day one the team went 2-1 defeating Tuscarora and John Champe, but lost to Sherando on the final match of the day.  On day two the cats defeated Kettle Run and a strong Musselman team to get a second chance at Sherando in the team semi-finals.  The cats had a huge effort from each weight and upset sherando to make it to the finals where they lost a tough match vs top seeded Eastern View. It was a great weekend and solid team effort to propel the team to its second trophy in the past two weeks!  Full results posted on the schedule link - the cats are back in action this week with a District tri then the Turner Ashby Holiday Tournament. 


JV Comes in 2nd at RMA Quad!
The JV got their first taste of some varsity mat time as they competed in the RMA quad this past Tuesday with Grace Christian and St Stevens.  A day after a great performance against at the Strasburg round robin the cats took 2nd place at the Quad. Full scores are posted on the schedule link.  This was a great effort by the whole team and some great experience on the mat!  JV cats are back in action next weekend at Musselman.


Varsity/JV win home opener - 2014 WC Duals Champions
The Varsity and JV came out in great fashion winning the 2014 WC Duals.  The JV had a round robin and racked up over 40 individual wins for the team.  The Varsity defeated Broadway, Harrisonburg, William Monroe, Oakton, and East Rockingham for the team title.  It was a great day of wrestling for the cats! Full scores posted on the schedule link.  Both teams are back under way this week JV at Strasburg & RMA and the Varsity at Sherando Duals.  Go Cats! 


Middle School stays undefeated in the NVJL duals. 
The Middle School racked up two more wins vs Daniel Morgan and Johnson Williams staying undefeated in the NVJL duals.  It has been a great season so far for the cats who only have 1 loss to Floyd T Binns.  Last week the Middle School wrestling team hosted their annual individual tournament this past weekend and had another great performance.  The cats racked up numerous placewinners and champs - totaling more than any other team.  It was a great day and big success.  Ful list of placewinners and champs will be posted soon on the middle school link. 


WC Benefit Match
Thanks to everyone who came out to our 1st benefit match with Handley last night.  Even though it counts as a scrimmage the cats came ready to wrestle.  The JVs began the night with some exciting dual matches and the Varsity ended the night with a 50-24 win.  Thanks to Handley for coming down and look forward to heading to their place next season. 


Two Wildcat Wrestlers enter this years Warren County Athletics Hall of Fame
The 2014 WC Athletics Hall of Fame was announced this Tuesday and two WC wrestling alumni will be part of this year's class. Broack Jardine who was a 2003 grad, State runner up, and holds numerous career stats in WC Wrestling Hall of Fame is the first inductee.  Following him is Dylan McGreevy 2004 grad, 3x state place winner and still hold the spot for most takedowns in WC history is our 2nd inductee.  Congratulations to both guys who join Eric Hawes who was the only other wrestler in the Hall,  inducted in 2011. The ceremony will be Dec 19th at halftime of the WC basketball game.  Check out our History and Hall of Fame links to see all the info on their careers!


JV Schedule Change - Sherando Round Robin moved to January (Parents Email)
The Sherando Round Robin has been moved from Dec 3 to January 9th.  We have updated the schedule link and sent an email to all the parent's on our email list. If there are any parent not cirrently on the email list like would like to be - contact a coach to sign up.  


Middle School takes first loss in a tough fought match
The Middle School team continued their hot start as they traveled to Winchester for a tri with Admiral Byrd and RE Aylor.  The cats were again dominate winning the first match 77-40 over Byrd then downed Aylor 96-18.  The cats travel to Floyd T Binns on Dec 2 for the next match - Good luck and Go Cats!


Wrestle off / Parent's Meeting
Congratulations to all the wrestlers on a great wrestle offs.  This was a great event to get the team started for the new season.  We also held the parent's meeting last week.  If any parents missed the meeting - contact a coach to get all the information for this season. The 2014/15 roster will be posted this week.

This year's team t-shirts are now in.  We will have them available at the Parent's Meeting, during wrestle offs or at our first home meet.  Cost is $15 - get yours today!


2014/15 High School Season Underway (Grades 9-12) - Sign ups continue all week
The Varsity/JV season begins this coming Monday November 10th.
